The IP10 is a modular semi-automated system for testing ignition propensity of cigarettes on the basis of ASTM E 2187 and / or ISO 12863. The Ignition Propensity Tester IP10 is modular. Up to 10 IP10 units can be connected to another and operated via one control panel. The sample is loaded and lighted manually. Further handling and monitoring of glow zone are performed completely automatically. The IP10 offers two instruments in one. The unit can be used as free burn tester and burn rate tester. The procedure is exactly the same but the sample stays in the upper position whilst the infrared sensor is following the glow cone.
